Frequently Asked Questions

NDIS stands for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, which is a new way of providing support for people with disability in Australia, as well as their families and carers. The NDIS helps people with disabilities live a life that is as normal as possible by providing them with funding to purchase the supports they need.
There are three types of funding available through the NDIS:
  1. Core funding—this is for the things that everyone with disability needs, like support to get dressed, go to work or school, and live independently.
  2. Capacity building funding—this is for services that will help people with disability to reach their goals and participate in the community, like therapy, equipment, and support to find a job.
  3. Innovation funding—this is for new and innovative ways of providing support for people with disability, like using technology or animals in therapy.
